Bodyboarding Guide
Just Starting Bodyboarding? here's some info that will help you get started

Equipment needed for bodyboarding -

  • A bodyboard - if you are new to the sport go for one that is not too expensive, though try to stay away from the really cheap ones as you won't be able to catch waves with these, use the bodyboard size charts below, these will give you an estimate of which size board to aim for.
  • wetsuit if you are aiming to bodyboard in the UK then a wetsuit is essential, preferably a full length wetsuit ,this will keep you warm and gives protection from bumps and bangs.
  • Swimfins-as you progress then swimfins are another piece of essential bodyboarding equipment, these will enable you to catch waves and accelerate during the wave ride, fin savers are also useful bits of kit to go with the swimfins as they prevent you losing  your fins.
  • Leash- a bodyboard needs a leash so you don't lose the board if you get wiped out, remember your bodyboard is also a lifesaver if you are too far out to swim back to shore!
  • Neoprene boots and gloves -in the winter months and early spring these are also essential equipment if you are going to stay in the water for more that a few minutes!
  • Surf wax - when you progress to drop knee moves and more then you may need a bit of surf wax on your bodyboard board especially if the top deck is slippy, though quite a few boards now come with a dimpled surface to allow for more grip.
